The 8th of March is a day set aside by the United Nations to celebrate women across the globe each year. The theme for this year IWD celebration was innovation and Technology for Gender Equality with the hashtag #EmbraceEquity. Which was targeted at promoting gender equality and meeting the health and developmental needs of women and girls.
Peramare medicals in conjunction with the embassy of the Isreal in Nigeria hosted the launch of the Peramare-illumigynAfrica program, a passion driven initiative of peramare medical in partnership with an isreali based Femtech Company. This initiative is in response to the WHO advocacy for the development of strategies and technologies to decrease cervical cancer mortality rate.
The program focal point is to make use of the illumigyngynescope system a novel gynecologic imaging device to increase access to cervical cancer screening across the globe. The event took place on the 6th of March 2023 at the corporate head office in Abuja graced by diplomats of different countries, medical professionals and key opinionated leaders in the health sector.
The event started with a brief welcome remark by the consul of isreal to Nigeria, InbaLipman who stated that the embassy is fully supporting the project knowing the importance of women healthcare. The ‘Illumigyn Women in Africa’ video was played afterwards highlighting the urgent need for easy access to cervical cancer screening for African Women
Our Managing Director, Deinmasekibo took to the podium and gave a brief introduction of Peramare Medical along with the company’s vision of revolutionizing healthcare across Africa. She reiterated the goal of screening 2 million African women annually in a bid to eradicate cervical cancer across the African continent. Speaking right after the MD, was the project manager, Dr. Nabila Shehu who introduced the Illumigyn gynescope System and also highlighted our achievements as a team
Dr. Okoye, a resident consultant at St. Catherine’s Hospital Abuja- the first facility deployed the IllumigynGynescope attested to the great features of the gynescope system and how it can be a powerful tool in improving women’s healthcare.
The event was completed with the presentation of the 1000 free test Certificate issued to Dr. Okai of Planned Parenthood Federation of Nigeria sponsored By Heritage Bank as part of its corporate Social responsibilities.
The event came to a halt with some fine dining of continental meals and a treat to a side attraction of massage and henna painting.
